Why in England drive on the right wing cars?

In the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan and several countries in southern Africa, the cars run on the left flank, with the wheel located on the right, because it is a minority of (about 30 percent of the directors of cars in the world) there is a consensus that these countries have changed deliberately running out from the crowd. However, in reality, it was not England that changed the driver's side, but the other 70 percent of the world!

Choosing to run the car on the left, finds its origins in two accounts, records and other scientific / mechanical: in the Middle Ages, the military has been forced to keep the left side, so that they could glean sword (which takes place on the left) with the strongest hand, that is right.

A military habit then becomes binding after persistent requests of Pope Boniface VIII, centuries later would be Robespier revolutionary who would break this rule, having revolutionized the direction of travel in protest against the Church. Napoleon kept the habit of running to the right to travel, being left-handed people, military benefits were obvious.

Technical explanation has to do with the shape of cars before: at first hand brake set on the outside of the right side, which made necessary the positioning of the wheel and the driver in the same way. With technological advancement, hand brake shift inside the car, in a central position, to encourage the use of stronger hand (right hand) driver's seat moved to the left.
